Flores, on the North American plate, is the westernmost point of Europe and arguably the most beautiful Azorean island. Waterfalls pour off every cliff, crater lakes sit in the highlands, and the basalt columns of Rocha dos Bordões look like organ pipes. It is wild, green and best explored on foot.
