Privacy Policy

Last updated: 7 October 2026

This policy explains what personal data Azores Atlas (azoresatlas.com) collects, why, and what your rights are. In short: we collect as little as possible, we do not sell anything, and the site has no advertising or tracking cookies.

Who we are

Azores Atlas is an independent travel website about the Azores islands. You can reach us at any time through our contact form.

Contact form

When you send a message, we receive your name, email address, the topic and your message. We use them only to read and answer your message. Messages are delivered to our private mailbox and kept for up to 12 months, then deleted, unless an ongoing conversation needs them longer. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in answering you (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Your location (“Find me” and “Near me”)

The “Find me on the map” and “Near me” buttons use your browser’s location feature, and only after you allow it. Your position is used inside your browser to show where you are on the map. It is never sent to us or stored on our server.

Information stored in your browser

The interactive maps remember a few preferences in your browser’s local storage, such as which categories you chose and whether the category bar is hidden. This stays on your device, is not a cookie, is not sent to us, and you can clear it at any time in your browser settings.

Cookies, analytics and advertising

We currently use no analytics, advertising or social media tracking, and set no cookies for visitors. If this changes, we will update this page and ask for your consent where required.

Hosting and server logs

The site is hosted by Hostinger in the European Union. Like any web server, it records technical logs (IP address, date and time, page requested, browser type) to keep the site secure and working. These logs are kept for a short time and are not used to identify you.

Maps, fonts and other content

Map tiles, fonts and images are served from our own server, so no third party receives data when you view a map. Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors. Links to other websites, such as Google Maps directions or Pinterest, are only followed if you click them; those sites then apply their own privacy policies.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask to access, correct or delete the personal data we hold about you, object to its use, or ask us to restrict it. Write to us through the contact form. You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority; in Portugal this is the CNPD (Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados).

Changes

If we change how we handle personal data, we will update this page and the date at the top.
